Made popular in the 1970s, slow cookers are rapidly making a comeback. Families are turning to the countertop kitchen appliance to save money on utilities and save time when cooking dinner. A crock pot is also a great way to make soups and chili to keep you warm during the summer months.
This healthy crock pot chili recipe will warm you up, while helping you keep an eye on your health and waistline. Did you know that chili peppers used to make chili powder are known to lower blood pressure? Which is just another added bonus to this healthy recipe.
Ingredients needed:
- 2.5 lbs of beef brisket (trim fat from beef)
- 2 large onions (chopped)
- 4 cloves of garlic (minced)
- 2 carrots and green bell peppers (chopped)
- 1 jalapeno (remove seeds and dice)
- ¼ cup chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin, red pepper flakes and oregano
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 16 oz of tomato sauce
- 1 ¼ cups non-fat beef broth
- 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 19 oz of kidney beans (rinsed and drained)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
